Bellmore Students Express Themselves Through Art
Bullying Prevention Month celebrated by young artists.

In recognition of October as National Bullying Prevention Month, sixth-graders at Bellmore’s Shore Road School welcomed author and illustrator Joyce Raimondo’s arts-in education program “Express Yourself.”
According to Raimondo’s website, the “program creates empathy, respect and a sense of community by showing students how to embrace diversity of ideas in art and the opinions of their classmates.”
Following a discussion of various art pieces including Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” the students worked in groups of six to create posters that promoted positive character attributes such as respect and kindness.
