Shed the Meds Collection

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo is sponsoring this program to enable the safe disposal of your expired or unwanted medications.

The program, held at the Bellmore LIRR Station Parking Lot (northwest corner of Centre Avenue and Sunrise Highway), helps keep these medications from polluting our environment or falling into the wrong hands.

Participating in the program is easy -- simply drive up, drop off your expired or unwanted medications, and drive away. Any and all types of medications will be accepted.

Under the supervision of the Nassau County Police Department, this program is set up to collect old or expired prescription and other medications for safe and proper disposal. This prevents pollution of our waterways, protects our environnment, and keeps these medications out of the hands of children.

Throwing out medications improperly, such as flushing them in the toilet or pouring them down the drain, can cause them to pollute local waterways. Safe disposal helps protect the environment and keeps medications out of the hands of young children or others who would use them improperly.
