Binghamton Clearing More Homeless Encampments Along River (wnbf.com) ā City crews cleared homeless encampments along the Susquehanna River in Binghamton on Monday, removing accumulated items while allowing residents to take personal belongings. Outreach groups were notified in advance to help about nine affected people, and muddy riverbank conditions complicated the cleanup work near Conklin Avenue and the Washington Street Bridge.

The JYNX: New Details of Planned Downtown Binghamton Music Venue (wnbf.com) ā A Binghamton native is planning āThe JYNX,ā a $4 million downtown Binghamton music venue that could host up to 175 shows a year and draw tens of thousands of visitors. Heās asking residents, students, and local businesses to complete an online survey to help shape the spaceās design, programming, and partnerships.

3. Crime Victims Assistance Center opens new facility in Broome County (wbng.com) ā A new 10,000-square-foot Crime Victims Assistance Center has opened at 71 Robinson Street in Binghamton, expanding medical, advocacy, and child-focused services for local victims and families. Funded with state and county grants, the highly visible site aims to make it easier for Broome County residents to find support during crises and honors the memory of past victims.

4. Zumiez closing stores across the U.S. Is Johnson City one of them? (pressconnects.com) ā Zumiez is planning to close about 25 stores, but thereās currently no sign its Oakdale Commons location in Johnson City is on the chopping block. Company officials say most closures are in struggling malls, and local partners report no closure notice yet, so Binghamton-area shoppers may see business as usual for now.

5. NYSP Release Sketch in Renewed Push to Solve 1980 Cold Case (wrrv.com) ā State Police are renewing efforts to solve the 1980 death of Barry Marquart, who was living in Binghamton when he disappeared and was later found in the Chenango River. Investigators just re-released a composite sketch of a man believed connected to the case and are asking anyone who remembers something from the Binghamton area in November 1980 to come forward.
