Juneteenth: Day of Freedom

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865. On this day, U.S. Maj. Gen. George Granger issued General Order No. 3 that informed the State of Texas that all enslaved people were free and enforced the Emancipation Proclamation written by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863.
