Annual Haudenosaunee Festival highlights storytelling (bupipedream.com) — A Haudenosaunee Festival on the Peace Quad brought Binghamton University students, faculty and local families together for storytelling, dance and traditional crafts centered on Indigenous culture. Speakers, including BU's Native American and Indigenous Student Initiatives assistant director, highlighted Orange Shirt Day and the ongoing resilience of Haudenosaunee communities, blending remembrance with hands-on workshops and performances that emphasized education, visibility and living traditions.

2. Vestal Student Housing Complex Activates Virtual Leasing System (wnbf.com) — A new 516-bed student housing complex called The Marshall Binghamton, located off Vestal Parkway near Binghamton University, has begun leasing units and aims to open next August. Developer Aptitude Development plans 195 apartments with one- to four-bedroom layouts, with one-bedrooms starting around $1,849 per month, adding to a rapidly expanding off-campus housing market that already includes the nearby Retreat at Bunn Hill.

3. Wallpaper That Generates Power? Binghamton University Researchers Have Developed It (newswise.com) — Binghamton University engineers have created a prototype wallpaper that pulls moisture from indoor air and converts it into small amounts of electricity, potentially powering low-energy devices around your home or dorm. Led by Professor Seokheun "Sean" Choi, the team designed printable moist-electric generators that hide wiring behind the wall covering, aiming to both regulate humidity and support sensors or smart-building tech in a more sustainable way.

4. Broome Leadership Institute Class of 2027 Announced (wicz.com) — Local residents connected to Binghamton University are part of the newly announced Broome Leadership Institute Class of 2027, including leaders from the Binghamton University Foundation and campus procurement. Over six months, they'll join other Southern Tier professionals in twice-monthly, full-day sessions on agriculture, business, government, health care and more, all aimed at strengthening community leadership across Greater Binghamton.
