The Chapel School Select Choir Sings at Atlantic District Event

Bronxville, NY- On Tuesday, October 21st, attendees at the Atlantic District’s “Witness in the Public Square” event were treated to a delightful performance by The Chapel School’s Select Choir. The event took place in Manhattan at the New York Athletic Club. The event was started in 2002 as fundraiser, when the Atlantic District President and Bishop Dr. David Benke, was brought up on charges of heresy, for praying at Yankee Stadium with non-Lutherans after September 11th. The charges were eventually dropped and the event now honors those who witness their faith in public. This year’s honorees included: Mr. Brad Hewitt, the president and CEO of Thrivent Financial, Mrs. Susan Hewitt, the Executive Director of the Franklin Community Development Center, Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mekonnen Mendedo, the President of Concordia College in Alabama, and Mr. Joel Wilson, a member of the Board of Directors of Valparaiso College.

The choir entertained those attending the luncheon, and received a standing ovation. “They were amazing!” exclaimed one attendee. “There was no hesitation, everyone quickly stood up for a standing ovation for the wonderful choir,” stated Rev. Scott Geminn, Associate Pastor at the Village Lutheran Church. “They did a wonderful job, and we could not be more proud of how well they did and represented The Chapel School,” stated Mr. James Dhyne, principal of The Chapel School.
