Activist & Singer/Songwriter Dar Williams to Speak and Perform at Sarah Lawrence College


Yonkers, N.Y.- Singer/songwriter and environmental activist Dar Williams will share her visionof a sustainable local lifestyle on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m. in Reisinger Concert Hall onthe Sarah Lawrence College campus.
Williams will discuss how “positive proximity” can reduce the impact on the environment aswell as her views on the high cost of consumption. She will also perform some of her songs intowhich she has incorporated her passion for the environment.


One of the most lauded singer-songwriters of her generation, Dar Williams has been captivatingaudiences with her folk-pop songwriting since the early '90s. She has toured with suchdistinguished artists as Joan Baez, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, and Shawn Colvin, and recently became a regular contributor to the Huffington Post's Green Blog. A dedicated environmentalist,Williams toured throughout the northeast visiting children's camps and planting bee gardens insummer 2011.
Williams is set to release her ninth studio album, In The Time Of Gods, which includes thesongs “This Earth,” and “The Light And The Sea” in April.
