How to Drag Your Private Life, Kicking and Screaming, Into Public: Looking Back at Thirty-Two Years of Filmmaking

Filmmaker Su Friedrich surveys twelve of her eighteen films showing short excerpts from the films and explaining the motivations, ideas, and formal concerns involved in the creating process. Friedrich began filmmaking in 1978 and has produced and directed seventeen 16mm films and videos, including From the Ground Up (2007), Seeing Red (2005), The Head of a Pin (2004), The Odds of Recovery (2002), and Hide and Seek (1996). Friedrich has been the writer, director, cinematographer, sound recordist and editor of all her films (with the exception of Hide and Seek), which range in length from 10 to 65 minutes. Her work is widely screened in the United States, Canada and Europe. Since 1983, Friedrich has made personal appearances at over 180 one person shows.
