Second Opening of Watercolors from Nova Scotia

On Satruday, November 27th from 5-8pm Noel Fine Art will host a second opening of Watercolors from Nova Scotia. The show features the brilliant work of Peter Devine, and will be held at the Noel Fine Art Studio in Tuckahoe, NY. The show will continue to run until Wednesday, December 1st.

In his last exhibit, Mr. Devine utilized oils to explore the quiet coves, wharfs and seascapes of the Canadian Maritimes. In this latest sampling, Devine applied watercolors to an examination of the more intimate aspects the shoreline and its environs. The following statement by the artist further elaborates his approach and perspective:

My recent work has divided into two parallel tracks. The oil paintings continue toward an idealized, concentrated sense of nature, while the watercolors emphasize the particular and the irregular. Both are concerned with a subject that occurs at an edge. In the majority of the oils, the edge is the point where sky meets the sea. In the watercolors it is where the sea meets the land...
