
In dedication of the Thain Family Forest, New York Botanical Garden is hosting a festival weekend to celebrate this 50-acre site, which is the largest remaining tract of old-growth forest in New York City.
Festival activities will include:
- Expert-led nature walks. (Wear comfortable shoes and seasonal attire for the weather.)
- Tree-climbing demonstration by an arborist
- Canoe trips in the Bronx River (All the necessary gear and guidance for short river paddles willl be provided. Sign up for a spot at the canoe portage--participation is on a first come, first serve basis.)
- Forest Fair.
- Poetry readings.
- Special film screenings each day at 4 p.m. (in the Ross Hall) as part of the International Forest Film Festival.
- Live music and refreshments.
Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 12-5 p.m.
