NYS Education Officials Visit Tuckahoe High School
The visit was part of the high school's designation as a New York State Reward School for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years.
News from Tuckahoe Union Free School District:
Representatives from New York State Education Department made a special visit to Tuckahoe High School on October 23, 2015. The visit was part of the high school’s designation as a New York State Reward School for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. State Education Department representatives visited classes and met with staff and students to see how the school achieves its performance level.
Due to the school’s designation for those two years, the high school has applied for state grant funds based on its student performance.
A reward designation is given to schools that have the highest performance or made the most progress with no significant gaps in student achievement. In August 2015, the high school was recognized as a “High Performing” Reward School. This was the third consecutive year that Tuckahoe High School received the Reward designation. The High School Principal, Dr. Linehan, is hopeful this third award will provide another grant opportunity for the school in 2016.
These awards are in line with the district’s strategic plan and mission “Preparing every student for excellence.”
