Police Facebook Post Helps ID Westchester Woman Accused of $10,000 Theft: Report

Authorities posted about the theft on the department's Facebook page, including surveillance images that led to Comfort being identified.

New Jersey State Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Angela B. Comfort, a Pelham resident, who is alleged to have used a fake ID to steal $10,000 from a PNC Bank in Marmora, NJ, which is in Cape May County, writes The Journal News.

Authorities posted about the theft on the department’s Facebook page, including surveillance images that led to Comfort being identified. Comfort is accused of withdrawing the money on Aug. 25.

“We are happy to inform you that as a result of our Facebook post, we were able to identify our suspect that day!” authorities wrote on the Facebook page. “Angela B. Comfort, 23, of Pelham, N.Y., is wanted for theft by deception, possessing a false government document, forgery, and identity theft. There is an active NCIC warrant (with extradition) for her arrest. It’s just a matter of time now. Let’s finish the job! Like and share so the next post is about her capture. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NJSP Woodbine Barracks at (609) 861-5698.”

The department’s original Facebook post was titled “Smile, you’re on camera!” and was shared thousands of times and produced several tips that police used to discover Comfort’s name.
