Police: Suspect Used Dead Man's Credit Cards for Spending Spree

The alleged fraudulent charges exceeded $13,000.

A 41-year-old Yonkers man was arrested by state police last week after he used the credit cards of a dead veterans’ home resident to go on a $13,000 spending spree, according to authorities.

Tory Washington was arrested by members of the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Friday and charged with felony first degree identity theft.

Police said Washington was arrested following an investigation into the fraudulent use of credit/debit cards belonging to a man who had died in October, 2014. At the time, Washington had been employed by the Montrose VA facility, where the deceased victim lived prior to his death.
