Giorgio Vasari was a classic renaissance man, skilled in painting, sculpting, and writing. He is most well-known and influential for his written history of art; however, he is also renowned for his architectural feats, designing many buildings for the Medici family. During the Renaissance, the Swiss Guard was known for their valor and became a staple if many European Courts. Pope Julius II established them in the Vatican and helped shape Italy's destiny.
