The incident happened in Port Chester in the parking lot of Modell's Sporting Goods on Boston Post Road.

A 5-month-old baby girl was treated and released from White Plains Hospital Wednesday after her mother left her in a hot car in the parking lot of Modell’s Sporting Goods on Boston Post Road in Port Chester, according to Westchester News 12 and The Journal News.

The child’s mother, a 32-year-old Rye resident, was arrested at the scene and charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Port Chester Police told The Journal News that the child may have suffered from dehydration but was otherwise unhurt.

Shoppers in the area spotted the child, who was strapped in a car seat, at about 2:30 p.m., pulled her out of the vehicle and contacted police.
