Unitex Helps Raise Awareness for "National Recovery Month"

“National Recovery Month,” taking place in September, celebrates the people who recover from substance use and mental illness each year, and helps bring awareness and understanding to these issues. Unitex, a regional business with locations throughout the Northeast and a leader in the healthcare laundry industry, is recognizing “National Recovery Month” by providing support to the 2nd annual Road 2 Recovery 5K Fun-Run/Wellness Walk in Milford, CT.

Unitex and other local companies alike are raising funds for this initiative with these goals in mind—help create awareness among the community, remove the stigma associated with addiction and mental illness, foster positivity around recovery and of course honor those that were lost. While bringing awareness to the community with this event is the main goal, the Road 2 Recovery 5K Fun-Run/Wellness Walk also promises to promote fun. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 12th, 2015 from 9am to 2pm at the Walnut Beach Pavilion, 113 E Broadway, Milford and will feature activities for the whole family.

The 5K Recovery Run/Wellness Walk is organized by the R.E.A.C.H. OUT Project (Recovery, Education, Accountability, Community and Hope), a new organization that provides certified peer-mentor services to youth and families in Milford. This organization gives people who are affected by addiction and metal illness a way to seek help when they don’t know where to find it or are afraid to ask.
