Video: Staten Island Chuck Noted Cloud Cover, Survived

New York's groundhog disagrees with Punxsutawney Phil.

Staten Island Chuck braved this latest winter storm to emerge, note the cloud cover and snarl a little this morning, according to news reports.

The ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo was not marred as it was last year, when Mayor Bill DeBlasio dropped Chuck’s stand-in, Charlotte—who died a couple of weeks later. The zoo, whose officials have insisted the death was not the mayor’s fault, was later cited by the U.S. Agriculture Department.

Chuck stayed in a glass enclosure, where he was surrounded by more green than anyone else in the New York metropolitan area, which is still being battered by that wintry mix.

Chuck disagreed with his more famous relative, Punxsutawney Phil, who news reports say saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter.
