Ciao Professore

Ciao Professore (Hello Professor) is a 1992 Italian comedy film directed by Lina Wertmuller. Nominated and the winner of Academy Awards, this film explores the dynamics between Northern and Southern Italy. Paolo Villago plays Marco Tullio Sperelli, a pompous Northern Italian schoolteacher, who, by mistake, is assigned to teach in a small impoversished town outside of Naples. Originally condescending, he sets out to teach his disrespectful and misbehaving pupils, kids who work most every day in order to survive; in return, he learns about the poverty of Southern Italy, and some street smarts.
