Several types of nut butters made by nSpired Natural Foods have been recalled because of a risk of salmonella contamination.
The recalled nut butters include Arrowhead Mills Peanut Butters, MaraNatha Almond Butters and Peanut Butters and other spreads sold with store-brand labels, such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Safeway and Kroger.
The nut butters were distributed across the U.S. and in Canada, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and Dominican Republic, according to an FDA news release. The products were also sold online.
The possible contamination was found after FDA routine testing, and four people so far have reported illnesses related to the products.
People who have bought the items with specific expiration dates should throw them away, and they can call the company at 1-800-937-7008 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. CST for a replacement or refund or for more information.
