Bus Lanes Upgrades Coming to Bay Parkway and Cropsey Ave. (bkreader.com) — Bus lanes and safety upgrades are starting on Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue in Brooklyn, promising faster B6, B82, X28, and X38 service for about 35,000 daily riders. The city will add offset and curbside bus lanes, new medians, turn restrictions, and pedestrian improvements from Avenue J to Shore Parkway and along Cropsey, with work continuing into late 2026.
2. Brooklyn Borough President Launches 'Healthy Eating Grant' To Fund Health And Nutrition Education Across Brooklyn (blackstarnews.com) — A new Healthy Eating Grant from the Brooklyn Borough President is offering $4,000 matching awards to organizations running nutrition and food-education programs in neighborhoods like Brownsville, East Flatbush, Bed-Stuy, and Coney Island. Local groups serving food-insecure Brooklynites, especially youth and families, can propose workshops, classes, or community events focused on health, food equity, and sustainable habits before applications close December 7, 2026.
3. NYC DOT builds bus boarding islands on Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn (news12.com) — If you ride buses or bike along Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn, expect short-term construction and temporary stop changes as NYC DOT builds two new bus boarding islands. Officials say the redesign should cut bus delays, separate cyclists from buses, and improve safety, with work expected to wrap up within a couple of weeks.
4. 9th Outdoor Fair Showcases Art in Crown Heights (collive.com) — Crown Heights residents just enjoyed the 9th Geulah Jewish Art Fair on Eastern Parkway, featuring live music and a wide range of Jewish artwork. If you missed it, you can still explore many of the same artists' paintings year‑round at the Leviim Jewish Art Gallery at 1089 Lincoln Place in Brooklyn.
5. Pink Runway returns to Brooklyn Museum for 15th anniversary celebrating breast cancer survivors • Brooklyn Paper (brooklynpaper.com) — Breast cancer survivors and their supporters in Brooklyn can join the 15th annual Pink Runway celebration at the Brooklyn Museum on Oct. 27, supporting Maimonides Breast Cancer Center. The evening runway show, awards, and fundraising highlight survivorship while backing local screening and treatment programs, including free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women.
