Bed-Stuy Block History Takes Center Stage With Monroe Street Oral History Event

A film screening and panel discussion will trace the history of Monroe Street during a community event in Bed-Stuy.

BROOKLYN, NY— A single block in Bedford-Stuyvesant becomes the focus of a community gathering on March 28 as residents, historians and neighbors come together to document its past.

“On Monroe Street: An Oral History of One Bed-Stuy Block” will be presented as a film screening, panel discussion and community event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Von King Cultural Center, 670 Lafayette Ave.

The event is organized by the Office of Council Member Chi Ossé in partnership with the 500 Monroe Block Association.
