PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN -- A famous rap star's Prospect Heights chicken and waffle shop was named a Brooklyn hero for feeding federal workers for free during the shutdown, Borough President Eric Adam's office announced.
Sweet Chick, the popular eatery at 341 Flatbush Ave. co-owned by Nas, was honored at Brooklyn Borough Hall Thursday for cooking up free chicken and waffles for federal workers during the 35-day government shutdown.
“Our latest ‘Heroes of the Month’ help those with nowhere else to turn, bringing hope and opportunity to those in need," stated Adams. "They are the human embodiments of a safety net that catches our neighbors when they stumble or fall.”
