With more frequent permit renewals, escalating penalties, and new, lighter designs, the city aims to cut long-standing sheds on streets, NYCHA campuses, schools, and medical facilities.
   

2. Brooklyn NYCHA Residents Can Raise Housing Concerns in November (bkreader.com) — Brooklyn NYCHA residents will get a rare direct line to housing officials at a borough-wide "NYCHA in Your Neighborhood" forum on November 18, focused on repairs, safety, pests, mold, and more. The evening event will feature small-group discussions, resource tables, and on-site help connecting residents to NYCHA and other city services, with advance registration available online.
   

3. New Pop-Up Plaza Opens Along BQE in Williamsburg (bkreader.com) — A slip lane along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Williamsburg has been converted into the new Jackson Street Pop-Up Plaza, giving North Brooklyn residents fresh space to sit, gather, and enjoy events. Created by The Exley, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, and local open-streets advocates, the plaza will test pedestrian use before more permanent improvements and programming are added.
   

4. Former gang member and prosecutor who put him in prison team up to fight street violence (nydailynews.com) — Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez is rolling out Project Restore, a prevention program aimed at steering local at-risk young men away from gangs before they ever face criminal charges. The story also follows a former gang member and the prosecutor who once jailed him as they collaborate on justice reform and anti-violence efforts across New York City.
   

5. Integrity Announce November Brooklyn Shows With Indecision, Deadguy And More (themosh.net) — Metalcore fans in Brooklyn can catch Integrity headlining two nights at the newly reopened Saint Vitus on November 28 and 29. Each show features a different lineup of hardcore heavyweights, including Indecision, Deadguy, Most Precious Blood, and more, all in Greenpoint's intimate metal hub.
