16-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead In Brownsville Basketball Court: Police

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN -- A 16-year-old boy was killed during a shooting in a Brownsville basketball court Friday evening, police said.

Timothy Oyebola, of Queens, was shot in the head inside Chester Playground near Chester Street and Sutter Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. Friday, police said.

Emergency responders rushed Oyebola to Brookdale Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life, said police.

Oyebola, of Jamaica in Queens, is not believe to have been the intended target, police said.

“He wanted to become a doctor or an engineer,” his father, David Oyebola, told the New York Post. "He’s a boy who had a brighter future."
