73-Year-Old Woman Beaten On L Train In Unprovoked Attack: Police

An elderly woman was repeatedly punched by a straphanger who suddenly lunged at her on a Brooklyn L train, police said.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN β€” A straphanger lunged at an elderly woman, beat her and fled a Brooklyn L train earlier this month, police said.

Police are looking for the man who repeatedly punched a 73-year-old woman without provocation on southbound train approaching the Livonia Avenue station on Feb. 8 at about 7:50 p.m.

The woman was sitting across from her attacker, who suddenly rose and pounded his fists into her head and body before running out into the Brownsville station, police said.

Police released a photo of the suspect β€” whom they describe as a 5-foot 10-inch tall man weighing about 170 pounds, sporting a shaved head, green jacket and yellow sneakers β€” Thursday night.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the NYPD.
