Brooklyn Mugger Attacks 73-Year-Old, Steals Wallet, Police Say

The mugger's elderly victim needed stitches on his face after he was attacked in an East New York building earlier this month, police said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for the armed mugger who smashed a 73-year-old man’s face into the ground then ran off with his wallet.

The gunman rushed toward the elderly man inside a building near Wortman and Schenck avenues at about 4:40 p.m. on April 6, police said.

The 73-year-old fought against his attacker who punched him in the face and threw him to the ground, said police.

The mugger then stole the man’s wallet and ran away from the building, according to surveillance images released this weekend.

The 73-year-old was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where he was treated for cuts that required stitches on his nose and face, police said.

Cops are now looking for a man who stands 5-feet 7-inches, weighs about 140 pounds and was last seen wearing a black jacket with a hoodie over his head, sweatpants and sneakers.
