East New York Thief Makes Pipe Dream Come True, Police Say

Police are looking for the smiling burglar who stole copper pipes from a construction site on a bright summer day.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN β€” Police are looking for the cheerful thief who stole smiled as he stole copper pipes from an East New York construction site.

The suspect and his friend were seen stealing pipes from a construction site at 3084 Fulton St. at about noon on Friday, said police.

A 49-year-old man spotted the pair loading the ill-gotten pipe gains into a Honda Accord with Virginia license plates, so they knocked him to the ground and sped away, police said.

The good Samaritan was not injured, said police.

Police released photos of the smiling suspect Tuesday night, and described him as standing 5-foot 10-inches, weighing about 180 pounds and wearing a white tank top.

His accomplice was approximately the same height, about 40 pounds heavier, and wore a dark shirt and shorts, said police.
