Jackhammer Thief Drives Off With $1.6K In Tools, Police Say

A thief stole $1,600 worth of electric tools from a van parked in Brownsville earlier this month, said police.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for the man who broke into a locked van and stole $1,600 worth of tools.

The suspect broke the passenger door lock of the white GMC van parked near Thomas S. Boyland Street and Livonia Avenue on Oct. 6 around 4 p.m., police said.

The man pulled out a jackhammer, electric saw, a screw gun and other tools which he placed on the sidewalk before walking away, said police.

A dash cam in a nearby car captured images of the theif then driving his blue four-door sedan up onto the sidewalk and loading his loot into the car, said police.

Police describe the suspect as a bald man in his forties or fifties standing about six feet tall, last seen wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
