Police Searching For 'Severely Depressed' Teenaged Runaways

Litzi Gonzalez and Andy Plata ran away from their East New York homes Wednesday morning, police said.

EAST NEW YORK — Police are searching for two severely depressed teenagers who ran away together Wednesday morning and may harm themselves.

Litzi Gonzalez and Andy Plata, both 17, were last seen leaving their homes near Hemlock and Etna streets in East New York on Wednesday morning, said police.

Before they ran away, the teenagers, who are girlfriend and boyfriend, both texted their mothers, saying they were extremely depressed.

Police said the two may not be emotionally stable and that suicide is a possibility.

Gonzalez — whom police describe as a 5-foot-5 tall girl with black hair — disappeared from her home on the corner of Etna and Hemlock streets at 11 a.m., said police.

Plata left his home on Hemlock Street near Jamaica Avenue around 8 a.m. and police describe him as being slim with black hair, brown eyes and a beard.

Anyone with information about the teenagers’ location is asked to contact police.
