Star Wars Fan Mugging Brownsville Elderly, Cops Say

Police are looking for a thief in a Star Wars t-shirt who has been snatching jewelry away from elderly women in Brownsville.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN -- A Brownsville Star Wars fan is snatching jewelry away from elderly women in Brownsville, according to police.

Police are looking for a man sporting a Star Wars t-shirt who has mugged at least seven older women in Brownsville over the course of two months.

The thief first cornered a 74-year-old woman in the elevator of an apartment building on Sutter Avenue and stole her jewelry at about 3 p.m. on June 2, police said.

He then took a chain from the neck of a 59-year-old woman near Strauss Street and Pitkin Avenue on June 16 at about 7:50 p.m., said police.

The thief's third victim was an 80-year-old man, whom he grabbed by the neck on the corner of Rockaway and Sutter avenues at about 6 p.m. on June 21, before running away with the man's wallet, according to police.

He ripped chains from the necks of three women, aged 67, 63 and 59, between July 8 and July 16 on the corners of Blake and Stone avenues, Boyland Street and Eastern Parkway, and Dumont and Livonia avenues respectively, police said.

His last known victim was a 72-year-old woman, whom he attacked and robbed of her necklace on the corner of Amboy Street and East New York Avenue at about 1 p.m. on July 27, said police.

Police released photos of the suspect wearing a Star Wars shirt on Saturday.
