Widow And Hitman Who Killed Husband For $900K Get Life, DA Says

Alisha Noel-Murray and Kirk Portious were sentenced to life in prison for the death of Omar Murray in 2013.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A Brownsville widow and the hitman she hired to murder her husband for a $900,000 life insurance policy were both sentenced to life in prison, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced Thursday.

Alisha Noel-Murray and Kirk Portious, both 29, received life sentences without the possibility of parole for their parts in the death of Noel-Murray’s husband, Omar Murray, in 2013, prosecutors said.

Juries found Noel-Murray and Portious guilty of conspiring to shoot Murray, 37, in his Brownsville home at 204 Lott Ave. on Feb. 24, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.

Noel-Murray first tried to poison her husband but hired Portious for $3,500 when her attempts failed, according to prosecutors.

Noel-Murray’s boyfriend Dameon Lovell, 33, provided Portious with a $500 downpayment and a gun, then later provided prosecutors with information about the murder in exchange for a plea deal of 15 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.

During Noel-Murray’s trial, it came out that she waited just a few days after her husband’s death before trying to cash out on life insurance policies worth about $900,000, prosecutors said.

Noel-Murray and Portious were both found guilty of murder in separate trials in Brooklyn Supreme Court earlier in June, prosecutors said.

“With their premeditated and callous actions, these two defendants forfeited their right to remain part of our society,” said Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

“They planned and carried out the heinous and cruel execution of an innocent man for nothing more than pure greed.”
