Woman Beaten And Robbed Of $1,400 In East New York, Cops Say

The 47-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after two muggers delivered a brutal beating, police said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN -- A woman was punched, kicked and robbed of almost $1,500 in East New York last week, according to police.

Two men lunged at the 47-year-old woman on the corner of Essex Street and Liberty Avenue at about 10 p.m. on Jan. 3, said police.

The men punched in the face and kicked her in the stomach, knocking her to the ground, before grabbing $1,400, her cellphone and a credit card, police said.

The two men than ran away, one northbound and one southbound, on Essex Street, according to police.

Emergency responders rushed the woman, who was in serious condition, to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, police said.

Police released a photo of two suspects one week after the attack and asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the NYPD.
