Young Brother And Sister Disappear In Brownsville, Police Say

Police are looking for a 12-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy who have been missing since Wednesday morning.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A young sister and brother went out for breakfast Wednesday morning and have been missing ever since, police said.

Lala Washington, 12, and Andrew Hillard, 9, left their home near Amboy Street and East New York Avenue at about 8 a.m. to get breakfast at a nearby food program, police said.

Their mother reported the children missing 12 hours later, after they failed to return home, said police.

Police have since scoured local stores, community centers and any place the two kids might hang out in the neighborhood.

Neither child has run away before and both are in good physical and mental health, police said.

Washington stands 5-foot 3-inches, weighs about 105 and was last seen wearing jeans and purple shoes, said police.

Her brother stands 5-foot 1-inch, weighs about 100 pounds and was last seen wearing black pants and white sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information about the kids’ location is asked to contact police.
