Lung Association's First-Ever VIRTUAL Fight For Air Climb Buffalo
WNY Diamond Cutters receive the first place fundraising award, raising nearly $12,000 & conquering over 500 steps at Whirlpool State Park
The American Lung Association's First-Ever VIRTUAL Fight For Air Climb Buffalo came to a close week, with more than 600 participants having raised a total over $168,000 for the Lung Association's mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through advocacy, education and research of lung diseases, including COVID-19.
Among the participants were the WNY Diamond Cutters who took home the first place fundraising award, bringing in nearly $12,000 and conquering over 500 steps at Whirlpool State Park.
The annual in-person event was originally scheduled for March and regularly attracts hundreds of people to walk or run up the 24 flights of stairs, or 470 steps, to the top of Main Place Tower in Buffalo. This year, COVID-19 required the event to be moved online, and participants from all over Western New York joined in to stay active by choosing a challenge such as climbing, running, walking or cycling from home or near their own neighborhoods. Activity boards are closed, but fundraising is open until July 31. To support your favorite team or climber, visit FightForAirClimb.org/Buffalo
