Bushwick Cyclist Hit By Sanitation Truck, Police Say
A 25-year-old woman was hit by a garbage truck on Evergreen Avenue Wednesday night, police said.
BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A cyclist was badly injured after a city sanitation truck slammed into her in a Bushwick bike lane and kept going, according to police and reports.
The 25-year-old was riding her bike down Evergreen Avenue near Menahan Street at about 8:40 p.m. when she was knocked to the pavement by a garbage truck, said police.
Police caught up with the truck driver, who did not stop after the crash, two miles away near Varick Avenue and Meserole Street, police sources told the New York Post.

It was not immediately clear whether the driver knew he had hit the woman, whose arm was nearly severed in the crash, according to the Post.
The cyclist was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, the Post reported.
