Bushwick Housecleaner Sexually Assaulted Client In Her Home: DA

Romaric Giuebre was found guilty of breaking into a Bushwick home, sexually assaulting and robbing his former client, prosecutors said.

BUSHWICK, NEW YORK -- A housecleaner who broke into a former client's Bushwick apartment, blindfolded and attacked her has been convicted on multiple sexual assault charges, prosecutors said.

Romaric Giuebre, 22, was found guilty Thursday of breaking into a DeKalb Avenue apartment at about 1:30 a.m. on July 25, 2016 and lunging at the 29-year-old woman he found inside, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office announced.

"I'm going to kill you," Giuebre told the 29-year-old, who awoke in the middle of the night to find him standing in her apartment, according to prosecutors.

The woman screamed, so Giuebre grabbed her around the neck and pulled her into her bedroom where she tried to defend herself, said prosecutors.

The woman drew blood when she bit his nose, so he tied her up with a sheet and blindfolded her, prosecutors said.

Giuebre spent more than three hours in the apartment, forcing the woman to hand over her debit card and to take a shower while he gathered up the bedding in a garbage bag and fled at about 4 a.m., said prosecutors.

The woman called her boyfriend after Giuebre left, and he called police who later found blood in the apartment and a $400 withdrawal from the woman's bank account, prosecutors said.

Investigators believe Giuebre made a copy of the woman's key after cleaning her home on July 17, 2016.

Giuebre was arrested on Aug. 23, 2016 and later told police he'd been in the apartment, tied up the woman and used her credit card, prosecutors said.

Giuebre was charged with predatory sexual assault, sexual abuse, burglary as a sexually motivated felony, robbery as a sexually motivated felony after a jury trial in Brooklyn Criminal Court, said prosecutors.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2018, at which time Giuebre faces 25 years to life in prison, according to prosecutors.
