1. Canandaigua apartment resident jumps from window to escape fire (mpnnow.com) — A Canandaigua resident was injured after jumping from a second-floor window to escape a fire Tuesday at the Garden Apartments on Bristol Street, and two dogs were rescued and are now in humane society care. Another unit had minor water damage, and investigators are still working to determine what caused the blaze, which drew a response from local firefighters and the Canandaigua Emergency Squad.
2. Tenney holds public safety policy roundtables in Canandaigua and Lyons (fingerlakes1.com) — Canandaigua hosted one of Congresswoman Claudia Tenney's public safety roundtables this week, bringing together sheriffs and district attorneys to talk about state policies, enforcement challenges, and resource needs. While no specific new bills or grants were announced, local officials used the Canandaigua session to press for better tools and federal support for law enforcement across the region.
3. National Glass Association Announces New 2026-2027 Board Officers (glass.org) — Canandaigua-based business leader Jim Stathopoulos of Ajay Glass has been named chair of the National Glass Association's 2026–27 board, putting a local company at the forefront of this national industry group. He'll work alongside officers from Arkansas, California, and Oklahoma, while two new members join and long-serving directors are thanked for a decade of service.
4. News10NBC Investigates: New video shows how mysterious explosions may be happening — and it could be fireworks tossed from a car (whec.com) — Residents may be reassured to know that mysterious booms heard twice in Canandaigua this summer were investigated by the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, which found no evidence at the scenes. New video from Brighton and Webster suggests some of these loud explosions around the region could be powerful fireworks tossed from moving cars, though police haven't confirmed a single cause.
