• Free breakfast and lunch await school children (midhudsonnews.com) — Carmel families should know that all public-school students, including those in Carmel Central School District, will receive free breakfast and lunch this year with no applications required. The new statewide universal meals program aims to ease grocery costs and support student well-being; local questions can be directed to Carmel's food service office at 845-878-2094. 
• Putnam Early Learning Center to Include Preschool Services (putnampresstimes.com) — Families in the Carmel school district now have closer access to specialized preschool and therapeutic services thanks to the expanded Putnam Early Learning Center & Preschool in nearby Patterson. The center, developed with Carmel and Brewster schools and county partners, will double enrollment this fall, reducing long travel times for young children with disabilities and easing burdens on local families and school districts.
