'Education is the most important asset that our youth should acquire and that for the government to succeed in improving education, it must have the support of students, teachers and parents alike. We can only succeed as a
nation if we build one another and build our country together... But at the end of the day, your progress will depend on how you apply yourselves to your
work. The road to a better life demands hard work. It demands discipline, patience and responsibility... In your hands is the key to make South Africa a great country, to make our society a prosperous and caring nation.'

President Nelson Mandela 16 June 1995

'For nothing is fixed, forever and forever and forever, it is not fixed; the earth is always shifting, the light is always changing, the sea does not cease to grind down rock. Generations do not cease to be born, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have. The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out.'

James Baldwin

It’s about South Africa. It’s about Brooklyn. It’s about everywhere and all of us.

How do we create beauty with parity and justice?

What do our children need to make a brighter future, a more beautiful future for all of them, all of us...

We are interested in asking how to make our communities better through art, through working together and with each other... If this interests you, please contact. Our door is always open...

Brooklyn Workshop Gallery is a small, intimate space in the middle of Carroll Gardens, a vibrant South Brooklyn neighborhood where the old world meets industrial meets the new Brooklyn. A semi-collective atelier space
dedicated to the celebration of cultural expressions, transparency in our processes, the sharing of our philosophies and a welcome to others with creative ideas. BWG is home to Workshop Gallery Artists Foundation, a NYS non-profit foundation whose purpose is to promote and facilitate the process of keeping traditional art craft alive and vibrant in our world and to encourage the interpretation and expression of such through the individual artisan.
