• Central Islip man sentenced for sexual assault of inmate at Riverhead Correctional Facility (riverheadlocal.com) — A Central Islip resident and former Suffolk County correction officer has been sentenced to 18 months in jail and must register as a sex offender after admitting to sexually assaulting an inmate at the Riverhead jail. Prosecutors say he used a camera blind spot to coerce the inmate, and he has since resigned from the sheriff's office as part of his plea.

• Two-Out Thunder Helps Ducks Ground Flying Boxcars (oursportscentral.com) — Central Islip baseball fans saw the Long Island Ducks explode for 18 runs at Fairfield Properties Ballpark, powered by big nights from Aaron Antonini, Henry Kusiak, and Wilmer Difo. • Police drone tracks down Lindenhurst burglary suspect (greaterlongisland.com) — Central Islip's Suffolk First District Court was where a burglary suspect, tracked down in Lindenhurst by a police drone, pleaded not guilty to burglary and possession of burglar's tools. Suffolk Police say drone operators guided officers to the man after he fled a Richmond Avenue home, and they later shared video of the arrest on social media.
