3 Bids to Renovate La Cantina Property
The iconic Westchester County-owned site could become a destination again for families living along the Saw Mill Parkway.

County officials have received three bids to renovate the former La Cantina restaurant site in Ardsley, reports The Journal News.
Specific details of the bids were not available, but the bids reportedly include proposals for a new restaurant, a miniature golf attraction and a toy train museum.
The county issued a request for proposal over the summer in hopes to finally get the long vacant property renovated. The site, located along the Saw Mill River Parkway, includes a 4,500-square-foot structure, a 2,300-square-foot slate patio, a parking lot and a small 250-square-foot building on county parkland. Before the Saw Mill became a commuter speedway, the restaurant and the park were a popular destination for family outings.

“We’re in the process of evaluating them and seeing what’s really viable and going from there,” Westchester Parks Commission Kathleen O’Connor told The Journal News of the three bids.
The property has sat dormant for 20 years. A time frame for when a decision will be reached was not disclosed.
