They are the 85 latest inductees to the National Technical Honor Society at BOCES’ Tech Center in Yorktown. The new inductees, and graduating seniors who received their honorary shawls, were honored at a ceremony on BOCES’ Yorktown campus Thursday.
To be nominated, the students, all of whom attend technical and career classes at BOCES, had to maintain a 90 or better average in their course of study at Tech and an 80 or better at their home school district. In addition to scholarship inductees had to exhibit character, skill and leadership.

“Whether they are framing house in Carpentry, saving a tree in Urban Forestry or comforting a child in Early Childhood Education,” Tech students have an advantage because they have been taught by excellent teachers, said Danielle Settembre, a senior in the Cosmetology program.
