After a lot of planning and construction, DeCicco's Family Markets opened its Armonk location on Friday.
The store, coming in at more than 20,000, is a large tenant for the Armonk Square retail complex, which includes three buildings on a site between Maple Avenue and Main Street (Route 128). DeCicco's has a 2-story configuration, with fresh produce, meat and fish to be purchased on a ground floor, and a bar, chef demonstration kitchen and bocce ball courts on the second. The bar level also offers sweeping views of below.
“So far, so good," said John DeCicco, Jr., who is part of the owning DeCicco family. His father, John DeCicco, Sr., told Patch that the Armonk location is the 11th store for DeCicco's, which has several locations in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties.
The plans for DeCicco's started two years ago, when the developers for Armonk Square expressed interest, according to John DeCicco, Jr.
DeCicco's joining another tenant in its building, Italian restaurant Fortina, which also recently opened. Fortina will be providing pizza for DeCicco's, along with food for the bar, John DeCicco, Jr. said. Meanwhile, the other two buildings for Armonk Square, both facing towards Main Street, are still under construction. In total, Armonk Square will have about 12,700 square feet of retail excluding DeCicco's, along with 10, 1-bedroom apartments.
DeCicco's and Fortina are both located around the Maple Avenue side of the complex.
