When Peekskill and play in boys basketball at Peekskill's John Devins Gymanasium, recent history shows that it will be a game that goes down to the wire.

That was the case two years ago when Greeley was poised to end Peekskill's 50-game winning streak at home but Daquan Brickhouse's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Red Devils a thrilling 52-50 triumph.

Brickhouse's shot, at least at the time, kept the home-winning streak alive as Red Devil fans celebrated by pouring onto the floor like the Duke Cameron Crazies or any fanatical college basketball student body would.

Last season Greeley returned the favor with a 65-59 win against Peekskill at Greeley. This season Greeley and Peekskill met again Jan. 14 at Peekskill and it almost looked like a carbon copy of two years ago.

Greeley seemed ready to win the game in regulation but a 3-pointer at the buzzer by the Red Devils Kyree Hull tied the game at 68-68 to force overtime.

However, a layup by Greeley's Harrison Brown with 6 seconds left in overtime put the Quakers up 76-75.

After a Peekskill timeout, Tyler Daniel made a great coast to coast move to the hoop, laid it up but didn't get the roll as time ran out, giving the Quakers their biggest victory of the season.

Brown led the way by scoring a game-high 34 points with teammate Justin Ciero registering 21 points.

Peekskill was led by Hull's 16 points with teammates Bayron Carter scoring 15 points and Chandler Pierce contributing 13 points.

JV boys hoops

Peekskill and Greeley opened up the day with a JV contest on Jan. 14 in boys basketball which was also an entertaining affair with Peekskill winning 52-47.

Neorck Brown scored a game-high 18 points to lead Peekskill to the win.

Brown was followed in the boxscore by teammates Jay Cabel, who registered 14 points and Morgan Jackson, who scored 12 points.

Greeley was led by Cameron Ciero and Brandon Okun, who registered 13 points apiece.

Greeley ice-hockey wins

Horace Greeley's ice-hockey squad hosted Newburgh Free-Academy Jan. 12 and came away with a big 4-3 triumph.

Greeley's Scott Jacubowitz registered two goals with teammate Michael Yablon adding a goal and an assist.

Neil Hershman was great in goal, making 22 saves for the Quakers.
