By Popular Demand, Marmalade Brings in Yoga

Yoga classes started earlier this month and have had a strong start.

owner Cindy Lupica already offered a diverse line of products and services. Her store, nested on lower King Street in Chappaqua, sells goods ranging from home furnishings, to wedding gifts, and even holds ballet. But due to lots of customer requests, the store began yoga classes earlier this month.

“We kind of just followed their lead and that’s how it started," Lupica, a Pleasantville resident, said.

The classes, held on the building's second floor, last an hour and 15 minutes and house groups of 8-12 people. They are held five times a week and feature two, alternating instructors, Corey Esannason and Danielle Jolie Dale.

“They really are fabulous," Lupica said of the pair. "They already have followings in Westchester. I had customers begging me to hire them.”

Esannason, who had already taught the ballet classes - they're for kids ages 2-6 - has been practicing yoga for eight years and enjoys working with Lupica.

"It’s been a nice environment to do something creative and the things that we both love to do and kind of get to do them together," she said.

Initial reception was good, with classes close to full, according to Lupica. And while the two parts of Marmalade are seperate businesses, Lupica sees them as synergistic, being able to cross promote. Many of her existing shoppers also take the classes, she explained.
