Chappaqua Gears Up for Sidewalk Sale, 'Taste of'
Big changes for downtown Chappaqua's summer event.

This year's Chappaqua Sidewalk Sale will have changes meant to enhance it.
The annual summer event is the first in which the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce is involved. The chamber, which only formed more than a month ago, will play a promotional role, according to chamber member Rob Greenstein. owner Barry Mishkin, who has run it through his Chappaqua-Millwood Business Association over the years, will continue to do so.
The sale kicks off today, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will continue on Friday and Saturday, with the same times. More than 75 merchants are expected to participate, according to the event announcement.

"With more than 75 participating stores, restaurants & services, Westchester residents can stroll down Chappaqua street, perusing the hottest sales from their favorite merchants," the announcement states.
This year will include the launch of a major event that is meant to support the sidewalk sale: The first annual Taste of Chappaqua.

Greenstein explained, when asked about the purpose, that the intent is for Taste of Chappaqua and the sidewalk sale to feed off of each other. Essentially, folks who come for the food could also come to shop.
Taste of Chappaqua will include food contests for categories such as best dessert and best pizza and best sandwich Greenstein said. People can voting cards at vendors' tables and return them to the chamber's table, which will be near . There will be ribbons given out for first, second and third place, Greenstein said.
The food and sales on Saturday will also coincide with a free concert, featuring Renaissance Education, Music & Sports. It will be Saturday, 12:30-1:30 p.m., at the gazebo in front of Recreation Field on South Greeley Avenue.
