Chappaqua Trustees Tap Retired Hen Hud Schools Chief as Interim Superintendent

He takes over as the district continues its fight over leadership and against lawsuits.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — The Chappaqua Board of Education has picked a retired superintendent to serve as its interim schools chief.

Daniel McCann, who was the superintendent in the Hendrick Hudson School District from 2006-12, will be formally appointed at the board's Monday night meeting, according to a letter to the community from school board President Alyson Gardner.

School Superintendent Lyn McKay hasn't been running things since October as anger over the high school sex abuse scandal swelled into calls for new leadership. Among the accusations against the district are that officials had received but not acted on an early complaint against against teacher Christopher Schraufnagel.
