UPDATE, 12PM: Metro-North sent out an alert:

The Lower Level of Grand Central Terminal is temporarily closed until further notice due to the loss of power as a result of a water pipe break. Train Service is not affected at this time and is operating to/from the Upper Level of the terminal.

UPDATE: The power outage at Grand Central Terminal is on the lower level, according to news reports.

All trains are running in and out of the upper level, according to ABC7, which also reported the MTA saying the problem is due to water getting into electrical components after a water main break.

It’s dark at Grand Central, and the ticket machines aren’t working, according to news reports.

Because it’s a federal holiday, Metro-North is on a Saturday schedule, though with some extra trains for commuters.

Folks on Twitter report there will be no penalty for tickets bought on the train.

Metro-North still reports good service on the Hudson, Harlem, New Haven, and Port Jervis Lines. There’s a delay on the Pascack Valley line, but that’s due to unrelated police activity in Westwood NJ.
