
Dorothea K. Cooney passed away on December 14, 2014 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco. She was born to the late Grace W. (Hand) Knapp and George E. Knapp on January 1, 1921 in the Bronx, NY.
Pre-deceased by her parents, her sister, Muriel C. Warren and her brothers, Vincent E., John W., and George L. Knapp. She is survived by her nieces Judith A. Warren (Eileen M. Casey) of Ardsley, NY, Susan W. Connelly (John) of Norwalk CT, Marion Wardle (Eric) of Miami FL, Kathi Clough (Gene) of Orange, CA and her nephews, Vincent Knapp (Mary Beth) of Aldie, VA, Robert R. Knapp of Bronxville, NY, G. David Knapp (Danijean) of New Hampshire, and Jason Knapp (James Cameron) Toronto, Canada.
She will also be affectionately remembered by many “adopted” nieces and nephews to whom she was known as “Aunt Dot”.

Dorothea received her education under the auspices of the Sisters of Mercy at Sacred Heart School and the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary and Marymount Manhattan College.
She was the former co-owner of Oelker-Cox Funeral Home with the late James A. Cooney. During the remaining years of her life she lived in retirement at her home in Heritage Hills, Somers, NY. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Croton Falls, NY.
