
Dr. Samuel G. Chavels of Mt. Kisco, NY passed away surrounded by his loved ones on July 28th 2013.
Sam was born on August 24, 1929 to George & Panagiota Chavels.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was a personnel specialist and received a National Defense Service Medal & a Good Conduct Medal.
Sam attended University of Michigan and Wayne State University. He received his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, & Education two honoree doctorates, two Fulbright grants and a diplomatic post in Mexico City. He also had a post in Egypt and Greece.
Sam was a Director of The International Institute of Education in NYC; after that he was a clinical school psychologist for the Byram Hills School District for 27 years.
Sam is survived by his loving & devoted wife of almost 50 years Luba, his beloved children Alexandra, Anna and Sean; his four cherished grandchildren, and also his dear pets.
Visitation will take place at the Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home Inc. 288 East Main Street Mt. Kisco, NY 10549 on Tuesday July 30th, 2013 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday July 30th 2013 10:00am St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church Interment will be private.
